Kesean is a generative artist living in Houston, TX. He got into music by the age of 16 and was fixated on the graphic art of albums and mixtape covers. Music has become an extraordinary influence, as he is listening to it while creating new pieces. His inspiration comes from nature, family and friends. Kesean has met many great people on his NFT Journey so far. For his supporters from the early days, he created a unique 1 of 1 art collection.
NFT Granny: “Dear Kesean, thank you for taking your precious time. While checking your different beautiful art pieces I would like to ask you: How would you describe your personal style?”
Kesean: Thank you. I would say it’s freeform. Most times, I approach creating with that type of mind state, more exploratory.
How did you first become interested in art, and how did you get started with it yourself?
Kesean: I started making music when I was around 16 and was always fixated on the graphic art of albums and mixtape covers. If I didn’t like the graphic art of the project, I probably wasn’t going to enjoy the music. I think that’s where the initial interest in visual art came from. It’s blend with the music I was listening to and how it can tell its own story. A lot of my art now is made while listening to music.
Could you tell us more about the story of your project “House of Ones”?
Kesean: Yeah, House of Ones is a collection of generative 1 of 1 art I have made. Most of these pieces are owned by collectors who have been supporting my art from the beginning. People I have built a great relationship with in the space because of my art and our passion for NFTs and the community. With a few telling others about the collection and my art. So it’s more like a collective.
Which of your artworks are you most proud of?
Kesean: Ego Death, my genesis on Foundation. I love that piece, really captures where I come from. It’s crossed my mind to see about repurchasing it at some point.

Is there an artist you would like to work with? Like a collaboration?
Kesean: I’ve talked about it with Aaron Penne before, but I haven’t thought about collaborating yet. Most times, I’m in my world creatively, but I’d be open to collaging something.
We are curious 🙂 Would you be willing to share any plans of upcoming projects?
Kesean: I’ll be dropping on SuperRare. I like what they’re doing and what they offer artists as tools and the ecosystem. I have been on the platform sightseeing, and I think I can be very creative over there, so I’m looking forward to how things go—more ideas and plans in the works between now and 2022.
Who or what are your biggest influences or sources of inspiration?
Kesean: Nature, or seeing and talking to family and friends, or just vibing. Most days, I’m learning more about generative art/creative code, NFTs and crypto, creating and building connections and understanding the art form itself and its history. Those things are all inspiring.
Is there something specific you are trying to express with your art?
Kesean: How my brain works.
What do you feel when you are creating new art?
Kesean: Euphoria.
Do you remember the first time you heard about NFT Art?
Kesean: It was around late 2020. I was getting on Twitter and followed Alexis Andre. He was minting his art on Hic et Nunc. I DM’d him, and he gave me some insight on the platform. I started getting into NFTs and crypto from there. Minting on hic and got on eth shortly after.
How do you enjoy the NFT Art you have collected? Do you have a way to display it for example at home?
Kesean: The art I’ve collected is on HEN, so I mostly enjoy them there. I lost a page that had interactive ones from a few artists that I enjoyed. I like those types of works a lot.
What would be your biggest wish for the NFT Art scene? What is currently missing / not fully developed to reach full potential out of it?
Kesean: I think that the economy and community continue to be built around it. Just as an artist taking everything in, the NFT Art Scene has immense potential in the way of community building and economics. Having so many passionate people with a builder and creator mind state is powerful.
It could become something that can develop, scale and be valuable in more places than just the crypto sphere—passed any cryptocurrency, exchange, or NFT platform.
The community and ideas around it can go further. So I’m most happy about seeing how that continues to yield. Maybe somebody develops a more comprehensive learning experience for new artists to avoid scams and bad habits.
We would really like to know, where do you see the NFT Art scene in the future?
Kesean: I think more traditional acceptance and in-person events. Not only gallery and museum showings and auctions but also different types of things you can go to themed around NFTs, Crypto, and Art. I think expanding more in that direction could be suitable for the space in the future, building more physical culture, community, and creativity.

What does a typical day for you look like, and what do you like to do when you’re not busy with NFT Art?
Kesean: Usually, I wake up and check everything. Emails, notifications, etc. Then do all the things I have to do for the day to create and commune. I like to go to museums, music and art events, seeing movies. Mostly just chilling.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Kesean: I should be more conversational. I like mainly chilling, but it’s been good talking to other artists and the mix of people doing different things with NFTs and crypto. I am meeting people I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for being a part of the conversation. That advice has been solid.
Is there something aside from art or NFTs you collect?
Kesean: I like posters. I have a few of them.
What do you feel the moment a project you’ve created dropped?
Kesean: At peace somewhat. It’s weird; I think it’s like letting go in a sense.
Where do you like to travel?
Kesean: I haven’t travelled much, just starting to go to events for my art and things in the community. I want to go to Jamaica.
